A Lady of Alpha
Kappa
Alpha
I
have come into my own The light illuminates me There is nothing that can stop the growth of a new Ivy
My
God leads and carries me As I have toiled through the struggle Knowing I will see the light At the end of my journey's
dark tunnel Sacrifices must be made If I am to succeed Learning about my humble beginning From the Alpha 'till
the ending
There
is nothing left but to AKAcept I am now an intricate part of nothing but the best Not to belittle
the rest The First Lady sets the standard
Beautiful, intelligent, and oh so elegant The greenest of Ivies Climbing tall
and reaching high
Not only am I a lady to be respected, honored, trusted, and feared No one can measure my worth Because it is measure in service over years
Sending praises to my Lord And paying homage
to those who paved my way The unbreAKAble, irresistible,
illustrious lady of AKA

Alpha
Kappa Alpha Mystique
Beauty unparalleled, grace undefined An Alpha Kappa Alpha woman is one of a kind She walks
in a room with her head held high Acknowledgement of her presence is an awe-filled gaze, or admiring sigh
The Alpha Kappa Alpha woman is regal
and profound She is the essence of feminism and these qualities abound The
Alpha Kappa Alpha woman is honorable and oh so unique All
of these qualities culminated,
create the Alpha Kappa Alpha Mystique

A String of Twenty Pearls
Life would change forever in 1908 When a woman dared to dream so wild And everyday since then, we take to heart
her goal The stride, the strength of Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Oh Margaret, Marie, Lavinia, Lillie, Beulah, Anna, Lucy,
Marjorie Your contribution was so pristine, so supreme That's why you mean so much to me
The sophomores were
believers and joined a movement right To carry out a vision fair And even now today with sorors coast-to-coast That
very same vision we share Oh Norma, Harriet, Sara, Carrie, Alice, Joanna, and Ethel Jones Mowbray You paved the way
as pioneers, transcended through the years That's why you mean so much to me
How high can an Ivy grow With
roots so deep below A sisterhood so divine It's a rare pearl so hard to find You live on vicariously, avoiding
extinction By merit and by culture too you've made a clear distinction
Oh Nellie Quander, Julia Brooks, Minnie
Smith, and Nellie Pratt-Russell Your contribution was so supreme, that's why you'll never know How much you mean to
me
